What is the Community Cash Walk?
CalEITC4me and our partners have a groundbreaking vision for community organizing. Instead of showing up at a voter’s door a few months before election season, we show up years before the election. Instead of arriving at someone’s door step selling a product or asking for a vote, we arrive offering benefits and help. Our institutions and community coalitions need a powerful organizing tool to change the statewide conversation about poverty – and the Community Cash Walk can be that tool
What does it look like, exactly?
Throughout the state, elected officials, community organizations, and other groups will gather in central locations with high levels of CalEITC eligibility. There will be an initial rally with speakers representing the various community partners, followed by canvassing trainings. Volunteers like you will be dispatched with walk lists, scripts, and materials to canvass for two hours, and then return with completed lists.
